Sometimes, this is a key area where wording matters. In the some policy wording: "Hosted computer systems" includes systems operated by a third-party vendor providing hosted services (SaaS/IaaS/etc.) under a written contract. "Contingent business interruption loss" relates to interruption of those hosted computer systems. Cover is framed around interruption caused by a security failure or systems failure, and subject to the waiting period. Separately, the referenced wording contains a third-party mechanical/utility failure exclusion, but it doesn't apply to Business Interruption /extra expense where the loss arises from the service provider's security failure, so cyber-caused vendor outages are typically treated differently to "plain downtime."
