What Is Cosmetic Tattooing?

While you’re likely familiar with the popular art form of tattooing, you may have never heard of the idea of cosmetic tattooing. Or maybe you have… In fact, cosmetic tattooing has become quite popular in recent years, particularly among females, thanks in part, to the rapid rise of interest in specific eyebrow and lip looks.

Is it a trend or will it stand the test of time? Only time will tell…

Nevertheless, both are definitive art forms in their own right, though they differ in many respects. Cosmetic tattooing, in particular, is largely popular in the beauty industry whilst traditional tattooing is much broader in its demographic.

Withstanding their target demographics, both also differ in the way they’re executed, whom they’re executed by, and the outcome that they produce.

In saying that, what follows will be a detailed overview of what cosmetic tattooing is, where it’s most commonly tattooed in the body, and how its executed or performed; notably, there are several ways or techniques of cosmetic tattooing…

So, if you’ve ever dreamed of a day in which you can roll out of bed and look just as amazing as you did the night prior, without any additional effort or application on your end, you’re in luck because that day is finally here thanks to the welcoming of cosmetic tattooing!

What is Cosmetic Tattooing?

Otherwise referred to as permanent or semi permanent makeup, cosmetic tattoos are a tattooing technique aimed at producing a desired makeup look in a permanent or semipermanent fashion.

The most common types of cosmetic tattoos are permanent eyebrows, permanent eyeliner, lip shaping, and lip blush. Other less common are those involved with the application of face and body freckles and even hairline improvements.

Depending on which type of permanent makeup application you’re in pursuit of, the type of cosmetic tattooing technique will differ. Curious as to what types of cosmetic tattooing there are? Continue reading…

Types of Cosmetic Tattooing Techniques

As mentioned, there are many types of cosmetic tattooing techniques, each coinciding with the area in which you want the cosmetic tattoo to take place (i.e. the eyebrows, lips, cheeks, hairline, or otherwise).

With that said, we’ll touch on the three most common types of cosmetic tattooing below, notably microblading, lip blushing, and permanent eyeliner. Other less common types of cosmetic tattooing include sear camouflage, semi permanent freckling, and hairline shaping.

Microblading

If you’ve ever wanted any permanent or semi permanent work done on your eyebrows, microblading is what you’re looking for.

Arguably the most popular of its kind, microblading is a technique that aims to mimic the natural strokes of hair via the application of natural pigment ink, ultimately resulting in a natural eyebrow look that too many desire at the moment.

While the finished result will fade over time, it will take years to notice any change.

Lip Blushing

At its most basic, lip blushing is a cosmetic tattooing technique that involves the application of a natural sheer lip colour across the entire lip, giving the lips a supernatural yet desirable appearance.

If you’re looking to get lip blushing done on your own lips, it’s important to note that it may take a few sessions to complete. Because the lips is a different type of skin, it doesn’t seem to hold ink as well; not to mention it’s likely to be much more painful.

The end result, however, is one many are satisfied with. That is after the recovery and healing process is complete.

Permanent Eyeliner Application

Whether lash line enhancement or otherwise, permanent eyeliner tattooing is a cosmetic tattooing technique aimed at improving upon the aesthetic of the eye and eyeliner area specifically.

If eyeliner is a part of your daily regimen, permanent or semi permanent eyeliner application might be the solution for you…
